GLENN REYNOLDS: Teach Women Not to Rape, the Series. The latest installment gets to the point: “Note the way the story is written so that the 11-year-old boy seems to be the active party here: ‘An 11-year-old Auckland boy fathered a child after having sex with a friend’s 36-year-old mother.’ Now reverse the genders [sic] and try to imagine that.”

Just as in the Woman Gets Off Easy series here, there tends (in both the press and the courts) to be an emphasis on male initiative and female passivity. This is really just reverse reverse sexism, since women who are ostensibly being defended are instead robbed of their agency. It is a subset of reverse reverse bigotry, whereby an ideology of victimization ends up harming the very groups it intends to privilege.
